This is a list of just some of the activities taking place in Abbotsford over the following week

FRIDAY DANCES

The Abbotsford Social Activity Association (ASAA) hosts dances every Friday from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at its hall, 33889 Essendene Ave. Cost is $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Bands for March are: Rick Noel with Innermild (March 4), Stillwater (March 11) and Sweetwater (March 18). There is no dance on Good Friday (March 25).

CLOTHES 2U

Abbotsford Baptist Church (33651 Busby Rd.) holds a Clothes 2U give-away on  Saturday, March 5 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Items will be given away for free, including clothes, linens, toys, books, footwear and small household items to those in need. Info: 604-857-4617

SIKHISM AND WOMEN

An opening reception for “Evolving Interpretations: Sikhism and Women: An Exhibit” takes place Sunday, March 6 in the Sikh Heritage Museum at the Gur Sikh Temple, 33089 South Fraser Way. The event runs from 1 to 3 p.m. and is hosted by the Khalsa Diwan Society and UFV’s Centre for Indo-Canadian Studies.

PARKINSON’S SUPPORT

The Abbotsford Parkinson’s Support Group meets Monday, March 7 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Matsqui Rec Centre (3106 Clearbrook Rd.). Guest speaker will be Clayton Loewen from Integra Law Group speaking on the importance of legal documents. Info: Carolyn at 604-853-3772 or Gary at 604-308-8691

GALLERY 7 AUDITIONS

Gallery 7 Theatre holds open auditions on Tuesday, March 8 for the final production, Freud’s Last Session, of its 25th anniversary season. Auditions are open to all male performers ages 23 to 75 and takes place at #100 – 34595 Third Ave. in Abbotsford. The play will be staged May 20, 21 and 25 to 28. LEARNING PLUS

Abbotsford Learning Plus presents two classes next week in its winter series. Both sessions run from 10 a.m. to noon at Abbotsford Recreation Centre (ARC), 2499 McMillan Rd. The topic on Tuesday, March 8 is “A Turkish Experience.” The topic on Thursday, March 10 is “Our Abbotsford Airshow: Its Roots and Future.” Cost per class is $5, plus the $2 ARC drop-in fee. DUTCH COFFEE CLUB

The Dutch Coffee Club meets Tuesday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at the House of James, 2743 Emerson St.

20TH ANNIVERSARY

King Traditional Elementary (28776 King Rd.) holds 20th anniversary celebrations on Wednesday, March 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. There will be a short ceremony at 3:30 p.m. and a small buffet at 5 p.m. All past and current families are invited. The event is free.

BUSINESS WOMEN

The Abbotsford Business and Professional Women’s Club holds its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Phoenix Lounge. WOMEN’S CONNECTION

Abbotsford Women’s Connection hosts a “Memory Lane Breakfast” on Wednesday, March 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Garden Park Tower, 2825 Clearbrook Rd. Featured are professional artist Deneige Meyer from Life Castings and speaker Aimee Imbeau, who discusses “Hope in a  World of Hurt.” Cost is $14.
