ST. PATRICK'S DAY DANCE

The Rotary Club of Abbotsford-Sumas hosts its first St. Patrick’s Day dinner, dance and silent auction fundraiser on Saturday, March 17 at Matsqui Community Hall, 33676A St. Olaf Ave. Cocktails are served at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7. BURGERS ’N BREW

Fraser Valley Humane Society hosts a burger-and-brew fundraiser on Saturday, March 17 at the 14th Avenue Pub (32516 14th Ave. in Mission), starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15.50 and are available at the society office, 33103 North Railway Ave. Info: 604-820-2977

SINGLES MEET

The Christian Singles’ Group holds a St. Patrick’s Day Mystery Party on Saturday, March 17 in Abbotsford. The event begins at 6 p.m. Bring a food item to share for the potluck meal. Reserve a spot by calling Kim at 604-504-0494, and choose the character you want to play.

STORYTIME

Valley Women’s Network hosts a luncheon on Tuesday, March 20 from 11:30  a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Cascade Community Church, 35190 DeLair Rd. Speaker Sherri-Lee Pressman of Social Media Minder will discuss social media in business. Cost is $20 for members and $22 for guests.

SPCA AGM

The Abbotsford branch of the BCSPCA holds its annual general meeting on Wednesday, March 21 at #105 - 34194 Marshall Rd. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.

AT THE LEGION

The Royal Canadian Legion in Abbotsford (2513 West Railway St.) holds an Irish pub night on Friday, March 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. Music by Syd. Irish stew is served for $6.

TIME TO LEARN

On Tuesday, March 20, Learning Plus hosts a presentation about the Doukhobors with David Giesbrecht. On March 22, speaker David Thomson of UFV presents a “Social Media Bootcamp.” Classes begin at 10 a.m. at Abbotsford Recreation Centre, 2499 McMillan Rd. Easter Seals “paper eggs” are currently being sold at various locations in Abbotsford. Purchase an egg for $2, write your name on it, and have it displayed in support of Easter Seals program and services.
