This is a list of just some of the activities taking place in Abbotsford over the next week.


The ladies auxiliary to the Abbotsford branch of the Royal Canadian Legion holds a fish and chips night on Friday, June 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. A shuttle is available to and from the legion, courtesy of MSA Ford. It can be arranged by calling 604-746-9151.


The Abbotsford Right to Life Society holds its annual Walk for Life at Mill Lake Park on Saturday, June 7. Activities include bouncy castles, an obstacle course, face painting and more.  At 1:30 p.m., participants will walk or run either a 4 km or 8 km route. The Silverfox air cadet squadron in Abbotsford holds its 36th annual ceremonial review on Saturday, June 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at its hall at Exhibition Park (32470 Haida Drive). The cadets celebrate their end-of-the-year training with a formal parade to demonstrate their achievements throughout the year.


The annual Gutsy Walk for Crohn’s and Colitis takes place Sunday, June 8 at Trethewey House, 2313 Ware St. Registration for the 5 km walk begins at 9 a.m., followed by the walk at 10 a.m. Info and registration: or 604-220-9865.


The Telus Walk to Cure  Diabetes is held Sunday, June 8 at Abbotsford Exhibition Park (32470 Haida Drive), starting at 2 p.m. The event is held in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Info and registration:


The Fraser Valley Symphony ends its 2013-14 season with a concert called “Movie Magic II” on Sunday, June 8 at 3 p.m. at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium, 32315 South Fraser Way. An educational workshop called “Understanding Stroke” runs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10 at Clearbrook Library, 32320 George Ferguson Way. The workshop is for stroke survivors and their caregivers to learn about the mechanism of stroke and recovery and strategies for functioning independently post-stroke. The Ukrainian Club of Abbotsford holds its monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Memorial United Church, 33737 George Ferguson Way. The Glen Valley Watershed Society is inviting new members. The non-profit society is for those looking for others with the same interests in northeast Langley and northwest Abbotsford: protecting waterways to ensure a healthy environment for all animals,including the smallest mayfly, salmon and other fish species, birds of all sizes, small rodents, and large mammals such as deer and bears.
