WORLD REFUGEE DAY

A World Refugee Day celebration takes place Saturday, June 24 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Mill Lake Park. The event includes music, dance and stories of hope from around the world. Free parking is available at the Bevan Avenue entrance (32997 Bevan Ave.).

GETTING BACK TO SONG

Singer Ken McCoy and friends Ashley Pater and Ivan Boudreau perform in concert on Saturday, June 24 at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (32315 South Fraser Way), starting at 7 p.m. Five dollars from each ticket goes to support musicheals.ca. CHARITY RUN

The Running Room in Abbotsford holds a free run on Sunday, June 25 with donations being accepted for Pitt Meadows mom Danielle Linfoot, whose hands and feet had to be amputated after she became ill in January with Group A strep (flesh-eating disease). The run starts at 8 a.m. from the location at #103 – 2070 Sumas Way. There are 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km routes.

BURSARY RECEPTION

The public is invited to attend a reception on Sunday, June 25 at 1 p.m. at the Abbotsford Legion (2513 West Railway St.). The legion will present certificates to nine recipients of educational bursaries.

FRASER VALLEY POETS

The Fraser Valley Poets Society hosts a book launch of its O Canada anthology on Monday, June 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Clearbrook Library (32320 George Ferguson Way). Selections from the book will be read, and a cake will be served. Info: fraservalleypoets.com

HOMINUM MEETS

HEALTHY AGING AGM

LAWN BOWLING

The Jubilee Park Lawn Bowling Club welcomes new members. Bowling takes place, weather permitting, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:45 p.m.and Tuesday and Thursday at 12:45 p.m. at 2552 McCallum Rd. No experience is necessary, and lessons are free. SWING WITH BLING

Registration is now being taken for the Swing with Bling ladies-only golf tournament on Wednesday, July 19 at Fraser Glen Golf Course. NAR-ANON MEETS

Nar-Anon Family Group meets every Thursday in Abbotsford at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3845 Gladwin Rd., from 7:30 to 9 p.m. This is a 12-step program for those who have been affected by someone else’s addiction.

TOPS IN WEIGHT LOSS
