The following is a list of just some of the activities taking place in Abbotsford over the next week

WALK FOR ALS

The Peoples Drug Mart Walk for ALS takes place Saturday, June 13 at Mill Lake Park. Activities get underway at 10 a.m., and the 5 km walk begins at 11 a.m. Proceeds go to the ALS Society of B.C. Register at walkforals.ca.

ANONYMOUS ART SHOW

An opening reception takes place Saturday, June 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. for the second annual Anonymous Art Show Fundraiser at Kariton Gallery, 2387 Ware St. Each piece in the show is on an unframed canvas, and the artists remain anonymous until after their pieces are purchased. STRAWBERRY TEA

The ladies auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion in Abbotsford hosts a Strawberry Tea and Bake Sale on Saturday, June 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the legion (2513 West Railway).

FAMILY CLUB DAY

Abbotsford Magnuson Ford Soccer Club hosts its first Family Club Day on Saturday, June 13 at Bateman Park, starting at 10 a.m. The day includes skills competitions, soccer golf, a concession stand, mini games and tents from community groups.

WALK TO CURE DIABETES

The Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes is held Sunday, June 14 at Mill Lake Park. Check-in time is at 11 a.m., and the 3 km  walk starts at 2 p.m. The event raises money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  Info: jdrf.ca

SESSION FOR LANDLORDS

Abbotsford Community Services (2420 Montrose Ave.) hosts an information meeting for landlords called “The Benefits of Renting to Youth” on Tuesday, June 16 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Info: Jamie Fox at 604-614-5157

INSPIRED SPEAKERS

Connect Now holds a meeting in its Inspired Influencers Speaker Series on Wednesday, June 17 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Red 21 Restaurant in Playtime Gaming, 30835 Peardonville Rd. Info: inspiredinfluencer.com

GENEALOGY SOCIETY

The Abbotsford Genealogical Society meets Thursday, June 18 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at The Reach Gallery Museum, 32388 Veterans Way. The meeting includes a panel discussion into how to: plan a genealogical trip, undertake beginner research, search for First Nations records and use genealogy computer programs to create reports and charts. There is a $2 cost for non-members.

WOMEN WITH CANCER

The Women with Cancer Support Group meets Thursday, June 18 at 7 p.m. at Garden Park Tower, 2825 Clearbrook Rd. Come out for a friendly, relaxed evening where you will find understanding and compassion. Info: Edith at 604-289-0630

DOWN SYNDROME WALK

The ninth annual Walk for Down Syndrome Awareness is held Saturday, June 20 at Mill Lake Park from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event promotes awareness for, and inclusion of, people with Down syndrome and raises money to support families in the Fraser Valley. Info: fvdss.org

CARPET BOWLING

Carpet bowling takes place every Tuesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Garden Park Tower, 2825 Clearbrook Rd. Cost is $1.25. Info: 604-853-5532

BLIND GROUP MEETS

The Blind and Visually Impaired Society meets the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Legacy Sports Centre, #4 – 3270 Trethewey St. Info: 604-626-0643

BINGO AT LEGION
