The following is a list of just some of the activities taking place in Abbotsford over the following week.


The 35th annual Berrybeat Festival takes place Saturday, July 9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, July 10 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the area of Montrose and Essendene avenues in the old downtown core. The free event includes entertainment, a KidZone, and festival treats for sale. Info:


Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware St.) hosts an opening reception on Saturday, July 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. for its new exhibit, Making of an Athlete. Beverages and light snacks will be on hand, and the artists will be in attendance. Info:


CityLife Church holds a free kids’ day camp from July 11 to 15 in the community room at Highstreet mall, 3122 Mt. Lehman Rd. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon for kids going into kindergarten to Grade 2 and from 1 to 4 p.m. for kids in Grades 3 to 5. Games, crafts, story times and snacks included. Info:


Abbotsford After 5 holds its annual summer barbecue on Tuesday, July 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Tanglebank Gardens, 29985 Downes Rd. Speaker is Vijay Manuel, former teacher, vice principal and principal in the Abbotsford school district and now superintendent of the MEI School Society. Guests are welcome. Cost is $12 per person.
