Here is a list of some of the activities taking place in Abbotsford over the following week.


The annual Berrybeat Festival takes place in the streets of Historic Downtown Abbotsford (in the area of Essendene and Montrose) this weekend. It runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. The event includes stage and street entertainment, food vendors, a bouncy house, a rock-climbing wall, and more. Info:


Clearbrook Library (32320 George Ferguson Way) holds a Welcome Summer Bash with magician Andrew Dalziel on Saturday,  July 5 from noon to 2:45 p.m. The event includes drawing with sidewalk chalk, a bouncy castle and more. The Skills Connect Program for immigrants holds a free information session on Tuesday, July 8 from 10 a.m. to noon at Abbotsford Community Services (2420 Montrose Ave.). The program helps participants with finding work in their field of expertise,  job-search techniques, courses and more. To register for the info session, call 604-866-0257


Project Connection holds a Cafe Night on Tuesday, July 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at SippChai Cafe, 31205 Maclure Rd. The cafe nights are for young adults to meet new people, play games, and discuss topics related to religion, spirituality and secular beliefs. Info: Gugan at 604-859-7681 (ext. 270)


Ride for Hope, a team of 50 cyclists, including Vancouver Canucks alumni, stops in Abbotsford on Wednesday, July 9 from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. outside London Drugs at West Oaks Mall, 32700 South Fraser Way. The team is cycling 200 km in one day from Hope to South Surrey to raise money for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Info:


Abbotsford Women’s Connection holds an  “Artfully Glassy Breakfast” on Wednesday, July 9 at Garden Park Tower (2825 Clearbrook Rd.), starting at 9:30 a.m. The event features Jane Mackay of Art Glass Design and speaker Joy Fera talking about her “Gold  Medal Lifestyle.” Cost is $11. Abbotsford Youth Commission’s weekly TIPS (The Integrity Project) Leadership Group begins meeting on Thursday, July 10 at 4 p.m. at the youth centre in Abbotsford Recreation Centre (2499 McMillan Rd.)
