BUY THE BOOK

The Friends of the Abbotsford Libraries hold a book sale on Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Clearbrook Library (32320 George Ferguson Way). Gently used books, CD books, DVDs, puzzles and more will be available. Info: 604-859-7814

DOUGHNUTS FUNDRAISER

Central Heights Church (1661 McCallum Rd.) holds a Krispy Kreme doughnuts fundraiser on Saturday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $10 for a dozen. Proceeds go towards building renovations.

AT THE LEGION

The Abbotsford Legion (2513 West Railway St.) holds a fish and chips night on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by karaoke from 7:30 to 11:30. An executive meeting is Saturday at 10 a.m. with meat draws from 2 to 5 p.m. and Each Other as entertainment. Breakfast is Sunday from 8:30 to 11:30. A Vimy Ridge candlelight vigil is at Thunderbird Square at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Karaoke is on Wednesday from 2 to 5, with a breakfast draw from 3 to 4.

STAMP CLUB

The Fraser Valley Stamp Club holds an exhibition and a trade/buy/sell event on Sunday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at W. J. Mouat Secondary, 32355 Mouat Drive. The group also holds its monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the school. Info: dedutch13@shaw.ca or 604-852-5684

SCANDINAVIAN CLUB

The Scandinavian Club of the Fraser Valley holds its monthly potluck dinner and annual general meeting on Monday, April 9 at 6 p.m. at the Masonic Hall, 33860 Pine St. (corner of Gladys and Pine). LEARNING PLUS

City councillors Brenda Falk from Abbotsford and Pam Alexis from Mission will share their experiences as influential women. Rick Hansen Secondary (31150 Blueridge Dr.) hosts a Vaisakhi celebration on Thursday, April 12 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event includes dancing, singing and a grad fashion show. Advance tickets for $7 can be purchased at the school. Tickets at the door are $10.

BRADNER FLOWER SHOW

The 90th annual Bradner Flower Show opens Friday, April 13 at 10 a.m. and runs throughout the weekend at Bradner Hall and Bradner Elementary (5205 Bradner Rd.). Opening ceremonies are at 2 p.m. on Friday. Info: bradnerhall.ca

MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS

Yale Secondary (34620 Old Yale Rd.) holds an event called Mental Health Matters on Friday, April 13 at 7 p.m. Speakers are counsellor Ted Leavitt and Brent Seal, founder and head trainer of Mavrixx. Tickets are $15 and are available at eventbrite.ca.

BINGO NIGHT

Centennial Park Elementary (2527 Gladwin Rd.) holds a $2 Bingo Night on Friday, April 13 from 6 to 8 pm. Prizes have been donated by Abbotsford’s business community. Minors are not permitted.

CALVIN COFFEE HOUSE

HOSPITAL AUXILIARY

The auxiliary at Abbotsford Regional Hospital is seeking more volunteers, who provide service within the hospital and fundraise for much-needed patient-care equipment and provide sponsorship of patient programs.
