Samaritan’s Purse holds a free disaster skills training event in Abbotsford on Saturday, March 25.

The session runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Gateway Community Church, 2884 Gladys Ave.

The Christian disaster relief organization helped Abbotsford residents after the catastrophic November 2021 flood, and is returning to the community to offer training to anyone who wants to help other disaster victims.

The session will:

• answer the who, what, where, when and how of volunteering with Samaritan’s Purse;

• provide resources for interacting with people affected by trauma; and

• discuss how to be spiritually and emotionally prepared to serve.

The goal is to have interested Lower Mainland residents trained and ready to serve whenever disaster hits, either locally or across Canada.

Visit SamaritansPurse.ca/CDR-training to register.
