Salvation Army holds photo contest of Abbotsford and Mission locations

Total of 25 winning selections will be used in 2022 fundraising calendar

The Salvation Army in Abbotsford/Mission is now accepting submissions for its 2022 Calendar Photo Contest.

Submissions are being accepted of Abbotsford and Mission locations in five catgories: seasonal, Mother Nature, wildlife, historical places and landmarks, and closeups.

A panel of judges will select a total of 25 images — one calendar cover and two for each month. One will be the feature photo of that month and the other will be a smaller side-panel photo.

The grand prize winner receives the calendar cover and a $100 Keg gift certificate, while the second and third prize get a $100 and $75 retail gift card, respectively.

The public will be invited to vote on their favourite image. The People’s Choice Award winner will have a special icon placed on their image, and they will receive a $50 retail gift card.

The entry deadline is July 31, with winners announced on Aug. 15 and the calendars available for sale in September.

Local businesses and organizations are invited to sponsor a month to help the Salvation Army offset the cost of printing. March, April, May, July, August and October are still available to sponsor.

The money raised through the sale of the calendars will go towards several programs at the local Salvation Army’s Centre of Hope.

Visit centreofhope.net/photocontest for contest rules and more information. Questions can also be directed to fundraising coordinator Kim Hissink at 604-852-9305 (ext. 138).
