Rotary Million Dollar Hole in One - Day eight results. Finals today

The Rotary Million Dollar Hole in One competition began last Saturday at Fraserglen Golf Course in Abbotsford. The grand finale saw action today Sunday June 7th in sweltering heat. Despite nobody winning the $1million grand prize, thousands of dollars in prizes were distributed throughout the event.

Top ladies performer: Dee Gorrell

Overall top performer of the event and final winner: Kyle Gerard.

Aces: Dave Blanchard landed the first ace of the event. As at Saturday June 6th ten aces have been recorded. Brock Ritchie, Barry Turchen (x2), Jim Goodridge, Kyle Gerard, David Gamble, Lee Corfe (x2), Dave Holmberg and Dave Blanchard.

Qualifying rounds for the event – hosted by the Rotary Club of Abbotsford – run through June 6, with the final rounds taking place June 7.

There are 95 yards between the tee and the pin during the first eight days, but for the quarter-finals, semifinals and finals the hole is 165 yards away.

The top seven golfers and five random draws each day qualify for the quarter-finals.

The top 10 golfers from the quarter-finals moved on to the semifinals, where they each receive one shot for a chance to win $100,000.

The top three golfers from the semis moved on to the finals, where they each received one shot for a chance to win $1 million.

Special junior, ladies and Rotary qualifying days, and more than $25,000 in prizes was awarded to the 12 qualifiers.

This year, organizers added a ladies final round, with up to 25 women qualifying.

From those, the top three golfers had the chance to shoot from 135 yards for $100,000, and the best of those moved on to the final shootout, where a hole-in-one would have net the golfer $1 million.

The majority of proceeds raised this year will benefit Abbotsford Hospice Society's Holmberg House.

Ladies Day saw a wonderful turnout with shots being taken until 8pm Wednesday evening. First place for Ladies evening: Michelle Holmberg.

Juniors Day was June 6th. The top three golfers included; 1st -Eric Beckman, 2nd -Dane Champion, and 3rd - Preston Barkwell.

Golfers paid $10 for 12 balls, $20 for 30 balls or $50 for 100 balls during the qualifying round and then shoot for a hole-in-one or closest to the pin.
