The 12th annual Paul Abbott Memorial Burns Supper takes place Saturday, Jan. 25 in Abbotsford.

This year’s “Haggis Bash” takes place at the Abbotsford Eagles Hall, 33868 Essendene Ave.

The event memorializes Paul Abbott, an Abbotsford entertainment and businessman who died prematurely in 2002.

There will be a traditional meal, which includes haggis, ‘neeps and tatties (mashed turnips and potatoes), roast beef and all the trimmings.

The event features ancient traditions honouring the memory of the great Scottish bard Robert Burns, including the piping in of the haggis, addressing the haggis and the “Immortal Memory” toast.

Entertainment is provided by the Celtic band Piper Down and special guests.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with a cash-only bar. Dinner and festivities begin at 6:15 p.m.

Tickets are $30 and are available at the Eagles Club bar (phone 604-859-5405). The event sold out last year.

Net proceeds from the event support local charities.
