More than $1,600 and 300 kilograms of rice were collected during Hunger Response International's Rice Raiser event held last weekend at both Save-On-Foods locations in Abbotsford.
Students and three teachers from Abbotsford Christian Middle School, Yale Secondary Key Club and Columbia Bible College volunteered at the event.
The campaign involved the public buying bags of rice to be donated to the Abbotsford Food Bank, or donating cash to support food projects in four developing countries – India, Laos, Rwanda and Sierra Leone.
This is the eighth year that the Rice Raiser campaign has been held in Abbotsford. For more information, visit http://hungerresponse.org/
