The St. Matthew Anglican parish (2010 Guildford Drive) in Abbotsford hosts a public service on Sunday, Nov. 6 for all veterans and interested citizens.

The service, held on behalf of the Abbotsford branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, begins at 10 a.m. Legion chaplain Rev. Art Turnbull will officiate.

The event includes a parade of veterans, former Canadian Forces members, and legion auxiliary members.

Church parades are held across Canada to mark the beginning of Remembrance Week. Veterans – including those who served in the Second World War, Korea, Bosnia and Afghanistan – are thanked at these services.

Those who have died in service are especially remembered.

The public Remembrance Day ceremony will then take place in Abbotsford on Friday, Nov. 11 at the cenotaph in Thunderbird Memorial Square (off Veterans Way), starting at 10:30 a.m.
