The Abbotsford Red Cross has recently lost a number of its volunteers, leaving the depot understaffed.
The branch is open between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, with volunteers working two-hour shifts, but if the shortage of help persists, the doors could be closed several days a week or more. The depot loans walkers, wheelchairs, crutches and bath stools.
Volunteers sanitize returned equipment, and generally do a one-hour shift per week.
Potential volunteers can find application forms at the local depot at 2316 McCallum Rd.
Afterwards, they must undergo a police check, the cost of which will be reimbursed by the Red Cross.
