Realtors Care Blanket Drive a success

The annual event collected blankets and clothing for people in need throughout the Lower Mainland, including Abbotsford.

The 18th annual Realtors Care Blanket Drive, held from Nov. 26 to Dec. 3, collected enough blankets and clothing to help more than 19,000 people across the Lower Mainland, including in Abbotsford.

Hundreds of real estate offices served as drop-off locations for the items, with the donations staying in the communities in which they were collected.

Andy Kwak, executive director of the Salvation Army Centre of Hope in Abbotsford, said the effort of the realtors and the community is much appreciated.

“Our mission is to bring warmth, nutrition and shelter to those who need it, so you can imagine how helpful hundreds of bags of clothing and blankets are to the people we serve,” he said.
