Raising funds for Warm Zone

The third Connecting Community, Supporting Women event takes place Thursday

The third  Connecting Community, Supporting Women event takes place Thursday, July 23 at Mt. Lehman Winery (5092 Mt. Lehman Rd.), starting at 6 p.m.

The evening is a fundraiser for the Warm Zone, a program of the Women’s Resource Society of the Fraser Valley that supports street-entrenched women.

The event features wine and a selection of food, including crepes from the Wild Violet Gourmet Food Cart and a barbecue with meat from Lepp Farm Market.

Guests will also have the opportunity to bid on a wide range of silent auction items and purchase jewelry from Twigz, while listening to live music by Topaz.

“We hope people will come and enjoy the atmosphere, connect with friends in the community and contribute to a great cause,” said Linda Klippenstein, one of the event organizers.

The Warm Zone drop-in facility is a safe place for women to come in off the streets and be cared for. There are laundry facilities, a full bathroom and a stocked kitchen.

Women are also supported with HIV testing, pregnancy support and help with finding emergency and stable housing.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $30 each or $50 per couple and are available through eventbrite.ca. For more information, visit wrsfv.ca.
