The Abbotsford Mission recycling program will host its annual pumpkin decorating event on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The event will run from 10 a.m. and 3 p.m at the recycling depot located at 33670 Valley Road in Abbotsford.

Kids can decorate a pumpkin with supplies from the recycling program’s “re-creation station,” which teaches children about the importance of reusing.

No registration is required to participate in this event and no knives or carving utensils will be used.

The event will also celebrate waste reduction week, which runs Oct. 21 to 27, and will feature environmental displays, including a City of Abbotsford booth focusing on the curbside compostable collection program. Attendees can bring an empty bucket or pail and take home some free compost made from curbside yard and food waste.

Children must be accompanied by an adult to take part in this free activity. For more information, please contact the Abbotsford Mission recycling program at 604-850-3551.
