Public transport talk will be held at UFV

Darren Davis will talk about how a community moved towards high levels of public transit users

A public transport lobbyist, planner and consultant from New Zealand will give a talk at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) on Oct. 8.

Darren Davis will talk about transportation in Hamilton, New Zealand and how that community moved from a primarily car-dominated transit model to one with high levels of public transit users.

Hamilton has a similar population size to Abbotsford, and the talk will provide an opportunity to engage with someone active in planning. That city experienced a growth in bus patronage to 4.8 million annual passengers in 2009/10, up from 1.5 million in 2002/03.

The event is organized by the UFV Urbanists and will be held in Room F 125 at the Abbotsford campus at 4 p.m.
