A new initiative is providing a range of free wellness classes for youth in Abbotsford.

Innovative Fitness, in partnership with Physical Literacy for Life and Foundry Abbotsford, is offering hour-long classes that will encourage Abbotsford youth to incorporate better nutrition and more physical activity in their lives and have a role in building a healthier community.

Upcoming classes are open to young people ages 16 to 24 and run from 7 to 8 p.m. at Abbotsford Community Services (2420 Montrose Ave.).

These include Intro to Fitness on Jan. 31, karate on Feb. 7 and yoga on Feb. 14.

There will also be an all-day snowshoeing event on Saturday, Feb. 24.

Foundry Abbotsford is set to open their local site this spring in conjunction with Abbotsford Community Services (ACS).

Foundry removes barriers and increases access to care by developing a province-wide network of wellness centres for young people ages 12 to 24.

Foundry centres provide a one-stop shop for young people to access mental health care, substance use services, primary care, social services, and youth and family peer supports.

Foundry Abbotsford will be operated by ACS and includes 15 community partners.
