Abbotsford will host events to mark Emergency Preparedness Week

Abbotsford will host events to mark Emergency Preparedness Week, running May 3­ to 9.

St. John Ambulance will launch a dedicated emergency preparedness blog at EmergencyReady.ca. The blog will cover everything from how to identify and reduce household hazards, to how to discuss emergency preparedness with your family. It will take the reader through the process of identifying risks, making an emergency plan and preparing an emergency kit.

Personal preparedness information and emergency kit sales by Life472 will also be available in the Abbotsford City Hall foyer (32315 South Fraser Way).

The Chamber of Commerce will host a breakfast and presentation on preparing your business to succeed in times of disaster on Tuesday, May 5 from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Cascade Community Church.

Martin Sunderland, of Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service, will host a presentation on evacuation planning for high-rise/office buildings and churches on May 6 at 7 p.m. at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium. To register visit www.abbotsford.ca/evacuation.
