Prenatal classes offered at Abbotsford Community Services

Classes held by Douglas College for expectant mothers

Douglas College has announced that it will now hold prenatal classes in Abbotsford.

The two-hour sessions begin Sept. 24 and will be held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Abbotsford Community Services, 2420 Montrose Ave.

The college has already been holding prenatal classes in Mission and Chilliwack, and expectant parents from Abbotsford were being referred there after local classes were cancelled through the public health unit.

Kathie Lindstrom, the college’s perinatal program manager, said the mandate of the program is “to ensure childbearing families obtain the most current, evidence-based information and education to help ensure health and wellness as they prepare for pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting.”

She said all program instructors are certified and bring a wealth of experience and knowledge.

The Douglas College curriculum is used throughout B.C. and Canada. For more information, visit douglascollege.ca/ce/perinatal. Registration, which cannot be done online, can be done by calling 604-527-5472 or toll-free at 1-866-930-5472.
