The Abbotsford branch of the Royal Canadian Legion began its 2019 poppy campaign by presenting the first poppy pin to Mayor Henry Braun.

The campaign began at noon on Friday, Oct. 25 and runs until Nov. 11.

The poppy season is the busiest time of year for the legion.

Funds raises from the campaign support veterans with costs such as hearing aids and eyeglasses. They also provide bursaries for family members and help support local army and air cadets.

The money raised in Abbotsford stays in the community.
