PHOTOS: Harrison Elementary staff jump in the lake for the Terry Fox Run

Students, parents raised more than $2,200 for the cause

Let the record show Harrison Hot Springs Elementary Tammy Nazarchuk made good on her bet: if the school could rase $1,000 for the Terry Fox Run, she would jump into Harrison Lake.

However, parents and students at HHSE did them one better – they raised more than $2,200.

The day before the jump, donations stood at a respectable $1,600, but the final push meant that four additional staff members would join Nazarchuk in taking the rather cold plunge, plus their special guest Sasquatch. The other divers were La Vern Klassen, Wendy Weaver, Helen Evans and Margot Lawrence.

Little did the audience know until it was too late that the staff packed away water guns, which they quickly unloaded to the delight and shock of the students.

And as the staff dried themselves off and the excitement died down, the Sasquatch shook out its hair and plodded off into the distance.
