PHOTOS: Gift ideas galore at Christmas expo in Chilliwack

More than 300 vendors at Chilliwack Heritage Park for annual Christmas Gifts Expo

A sea of holiday shoppers filled the big red barns in Chilliwack on the weekend for the Christmas Gifts Expo.

The annual market by All About Expos was at Chilliwack Heritage Park from Friday, Dec. 6 to Sunday, Dec. 8.

They were at capacity with more than 300 vendors filling two floors.

New this year was an added "happy hour" or "pay it forward" initiative, said organizer Sharon Dueck. On Friday, Dueck walked around the venue with a handful of cash and, just before a customer would make a purchase, she would step in and hand the vendor some money which would go towards the purchase.

It was an incentive for people to come out when the market wasn't quite as busy, she said. Over the course of the weekend, organizers handed out about $500 to $1,000 in "happy hour" cash.

The event goes until 6 p.m. on Saturday, and continues on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are hourly door prizes for people who bring non-perishable food items for the food bank.

Admission is $5 for the entire weekend, and it's free admission for kids aged five and under. Parking is by donation.
