Panel on barbaric cultural practices act at UFV

Race and Anti-Racism Network will host discussion on proposed legislation

The Race and Anti-Racism Network (RAN) at the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV) will be hosting a forum discussion to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination this Thursday, March 19 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The panel will be discussing the implications of the Canadian government proposed ‘Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices Act.’ Panel members include Kamaljit Kaur Lehal of Lehal Law Corporation and UFV faculty members Hamish Telford and Tamara O’Doherty. The event will begin with a brief introduction on the Sharpeville Massacre of 1960 as well as an explanation of the Act itself followed by the panel discussion.
