Open house celebrates the Abbotsford News' 90th anniversary

The public is invited to enjoy a day of family-friendly events.

The Abbotsford News turns 90 this year and will be celebrating nine decades of keeping people informed by holding an open house on May 26.

The public is invited to visit the News office at 34375 Gladys Ave., from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and enjoy a celebration filled with family-friendly events.

Dignitaries and guests alike can listen to live entertainment, view a display of cars provided by 360 Fabrication and Jake Siemens of Hub Motors, enjoy displays of military vehicles, participate in a bike and pet contest and there’s even a bouncy castle and other events for the kids.

There will be plenty to eat (by donation) as M&M Meats will be hosting a barbecue, Save-On-Foods will provide coffee and cookies and Boston Pizza will be handing out samples of its varied menu.

Free tours will be offered of the News building, including the press hall, to show people how the paper is processed and printed locally.

A sign-up sheet for tours will be available during the event.

Other special features include a live band, a draw for some great prizes, representatives from the Heat hockey team as well as the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre’s street team.

Join the Abbotsford News as it celebrates a long history of serving the needs of the community.
