Nominations are open for the Betty Urquhart annual community service award, which honours an individual or group that has helped make the Fraser Valley a better place to live.

Urquhart was one of the first employees of Fraser Valley College, now the University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), and believed strongly in volunteering and giving back to the community.Urquhart passed away in 1995, and UFV keeps her memory alive by honouring a person or group who exemplifies her commitment to life-long learning and community.

The award is presented as part of the university’s annual convocation ceremony in June.
