New president for Rotary Club of Abbotsford

Hugh Ellis has taken over as the new president of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford.

On July 1, Hugh Ellis assumed his role as the president of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford.

Ellis has been a member of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford since 2011 and has served on the board as fundraising director and president-elect.

Ellis has been a banker for 37 years and is currently the assistant vice-president and manager of Canadian Western Bank in Abbotsford. A long-time resident of Abbotsford, Ellis has served his community in a number of roles for many local charities and associations. Most recently he served as president of the Abbotsford Executive Association.

He is all about family with three adult children and two granddaughters.

“I’m proud of my wife Sandy and our strong family ties that we’ve created together. I also appreciate my close friends at home, in the community and at work.”

Ellis said that “having the honour of being the president of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford will allow me to continue the great work of Rotary, to encourage membership growth, to assist our community partners, to create new leaders through Rotary and to keep our membership engaged and excited about Rotary. This year’s Rotary International theme is to 'Light up Rotary'. We have lots of work to do and I look forward to an amazing year ahead with a club that gives so much to its communities."

Also inducted to the board of directors were: Angelo Rea, Leslie McConnell, Sara Lawson, Carla Cadieux, Andrea Lingren, Harvey Goodwin, Lyle McLelland, Doris Woodman-McMillan, Shirley Wilson, Caroline Mostertman, Marion Keys and Bruce Beck.
