New online calendar on Abbotsford News website

Free offering enables the public to post their community events.

Black Press has launched a new calendar of events on all of its community newspaper websites, including the Abbotsford News.

The new calendar requires no login or password, and the form to submit an item is easy to use. You can designate where you wish the calendar item to appear within the Black Press B.C. family of websites.

Events can be shared on social networks by readers or event organizers, and each posting will have Facebook comments.

It’s free, and there’s even a spot for an image, say a rehearsal photo from a high school play.

Readers can also add events from the calendar to their personal online calendar.

Someone in the newsroom will check each item before it posts to make sure it complies with our simple guidelines, which lead off the submission form. Please don’t post a business-oriented sale.

The feature appears on all pages of The News’ website, or go directly to http://www.abbynews.com/calendar/ to view the calendar, and http://www.abbynews.com/calendar/submit/ to post your event.
