Mt. Lehman hosts fall fair on Saturday

The community of Mt. Lehman in Abbosford hosts its 20th annual fall fair on Saturday, Sept. 20.

This year the theme is “Community History,” honouring three anniversaries – 130 years for the school, 120 for the church and 110 for the community hall.

The fair takes place at the Mt. Lehman elementary and the community hall located at Mt. Lehman and Taylor roads. Admission is free.

The event begins at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast at the hall, followed at 9:30 by the start of the fair.

A pet parade takes place at 10 a.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 10:30.

Activities include games, a silent auction, a live auction, a craft fair, a produce display, a Mt. Lehman community history display, children’s games, Games2U mobile entertainment, on-stage entertainment and lots of food choices, including a chicken dinner at the hall from 3 to 7 p.m.

Throughout the day, there will be a variety of dancers and musicians on stage.

The Fraser Valley Community Winds start the on-stage entertainment at 11 a.m., and the Prairie Dance Club Band ends the day at 4 p.m.

Tickets will be sold for raffles, gift baskets, games/rides and “Bessie bingo.”

The cost of the chicken dinner/family social is $12 for an adult-sized large plate and $8 for a half-sized child’s serving.
