The numbers are in, and McDonald’s annual McHappy Day event was a success, raising more than $10,000 for Matthew’s House, an Abbotsford respite home for families with children who have complex health needs.
The event saw an army of volunteers, including Mayor Bruce Banman, took orders at Abbotsford’s five McDonald’s locations for the fundraiser.
Magnuson Ford, meanwhile, held a test drive event and made a donation for every drive taken.
Together, McDonalds’s and Magnuson Ford raised $10,148.
“We were really touched by the enthusiasm and dedication of the McDonald’s employees who came together to support children and families in our community,” said Laura Ullock, resource development assistant for Matthew’s House, in a press release.
“It was a really fun day!”
Matthew’s House opened its doors last November. Named after Matthew Froese, the facility provides a “home away from home” for children like Matthew from the ages of four to 18 who live with complex health care needs.
