McHappy Day in Abbotsford helps children's charities

Celebrity volunteers are working in all of the Abbotsford McDonald's locations to help raise money for kids in need.

Today (May 8) is McHappy Day and McDonald's across Canada, including Abbotsford, are helping to raise funds for Ronald McDonald House and other children's charities.

Started in 1977, McHappy Day has raised more than $38 million across Canada.

On this day, in Abbotsford, $1 from every Big Mac, Happy Meal or Hot McCafe beverage sold will be donated to the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre and Ronald McDonald Children's Charities.

There are also silent auctions, balloon sales and raffle tickets being sold to raise additional funds. Special guest celebrities, including local politicians, police and fire rescue workers are volunteering their time to serve customers.
