Steve Roukema is the new executive director of the M2W2 Association in Abbotsford.

M2W2 Association in Abbotsford has announced the appointment of Steve Roukema as its new executive director.

Roukema, who took over the position on Jan. 2, has a career in community service and leadership and served as the executive director of Chilliwack Restorative Justice for three years.

"His vision and dedication align perfectly with M2W2's goals, and we are excited to have him lead our organization into a new era of growth and impact," states a press release from the organization.

To celebrate this new chapter and to showcase its ongoing efforts, M2W2 Association hosts a fundraising walk, called Walk Side by Side, May 31 at Mill Lake Park from 2 to 5 p.m.

Attendees will have the chance to meet Roukema and hear firsthand about his vision for the future of M2W2.

This event will provide an opportunity for the community to learn more about M2W2, which offers a prison mentorship program and its NOLA (No One Leaves Alone) program to offer post-prison support.

M2W2 also runs the Hidden Treasure Thrift Store in Chilliwack, where people on parole, work release or Escorted Temporary Absence (ETA) can gain employment experience alongside store staff and volunteers.

Grace, who recently completed the NOLA program after being in prison for several years, says she is "beyond grateful" for the support.

“Whether it was something as simple as coffee dates to help me feel a part of the community again or reaching out to other resources for housing and employment, their support has made all the difference," she said.

Visit m2w2.com or call 604-859-3215 for more information about the fundraiser or the work that the organization is doing in the community.
