Local students claim medals at skills competition

Winners will move on to provincial skills competitions in April at Tradex

Several Abbotsford students claimed medals at the 2015 Upper Fraser Valley Regional Skills competition held last week at the UFV Trades & Technology Centre.

The competitions aim to celebrate mastery of trades and technology skills.

Winners of the regional events advanced to the provincials, which will be held April 15 at Tradex. From there, the victors can move on to the national or world skills competitions.

The following local students won medals (TV and video production results have not yet been released):

2D Animation:

Gold: Grace Choi and Ryan White (Robert Bateman)

Silver: Sage Auterson and Brittany Sukorokoff (Rick Hansen)

Bronze: Albert Rosenau and Matthew Sztuhar (Robert Bateman)

3D Animation:

Gold: Noah Dueck and Kurtis Mar (Robert Bateman)

Architectural CAD:

Gold: Alex Hintz (Abby senior)

Silver: Trevyn Krull (Rick Hansen)

Bronze: Raven Dherari (Rick Hansen)

Automotive Service:

Gold: Chris Letkeman (W.J. Mouat)

Silver: Mike Paulson (Robert Bateman)

Bronze: Mitch Pye (Riverside College)

Carpentry:

Gold: Justin Smith (Riverside College)

Silver: Cuba Myrtle (Abby senior)

Bronze: Natalya Schroeder (Abby senior)

Culinary Arts:
