Members of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford-Matsqui recently participated in a cleanup project at the Abbotsford Community Services Recyling Program.

Members of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford-Matsqui didn't let the rain stop them from a recent cleanup event.

The group helped out on Sept. 26 at Abbotsford Community Services Recycling Program Education Centre on Valley Road.

Club members cleaned and power-washed the greenhouse and did a cleanup of the areas around the greenhouse, flower beds and the composting demonstration area.

The club has long supported the Community Recycling Program, having raised funds to purchase a cardboard compactor in the late 1980s.

The club also purchased and erected the greenhouse on site in 2007 and donated funds for the education centre building.

Earlier this year, they helped sponsor the centre's Environmental Mind Grind for high school students with funds from the club's annual Abbotsford Environmental Leadership Awards.

The greenhouse is dedicated to long time Rotarian the late George Tough.
