KMS Tools, whose locations include Abbotsford and Chilliwack, has contributed $100,000 to flood relief efforts.

The company will continue to donate a portion of sales through the end of the year.

To date, the donations made so far by KMS Tools are: $25,000 to the Red Cross, $25,000 to the Abbotsford Disaster Relief Fund, $15,000 to the BC Agriculture Council, $10,000 to the United Way BC Flood Response Fund, $15,000 to GiveClear, $15,000 to Samaritan’s Purse, $5,000 in tools to Mennonite Disaster Service and $3,100 in tools to Yarrow MB Church.

The Abbotsford location on Sumas Way was among the homes and businesses that were evacuated when flooding first hit the area on Nov. 15. Waters reached within a block of the store.

Several of their locations were cut off from supply chains, and they have been working working hard to get the essential tools and equipment that first responders, farmers and contractors need in those areas.

“Our hearts go out to our neighbours. We work and live in the affected communities, and want to be a part of the solution to rebuilding it. The community supports us, and we want to give back to it,” said Rich Hough, store manager in Abbotsford.

The KMS Tools location in Chilliwack remained above water as well, and is now supporting residents in every way possible.

“Many of the families, farms, and businesses are our customers and we would like to give back however we can,” said store manager Terry Allin.
