In recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15, several groups in Abbotsford partnered to deliver kits to 120 local seniors.

The kits included a purple cupcake, a colouring activity, a word search, pencil crayons, an eraser, a brochure, a pill case and elder abuse information.

They also included a handout on what older adults can look for regarding signs of addiction in others in their lives, such as adult children, and where to go for more information.

The seniors receiving the kits access Meals on Wheels through Archway Community Services and/or various programming at Abbotsford Association for Healthy Aging.

The groups involved in the project were the Abbotsford branch of the BC Association of Community Response Networks, the Abbotsford Association for Healthy Aging, Archway Community Services, and Save-On Foods Sumas.

Jackie, kitchen manager at Sumas Save-on Foods, was instrumental in arranging the cupcakes at no cost for the delivery.
