Kinder Morgan holds open house July 20

Residents can talk about Trans Mountain pipeline twinning project

Kinder Morgan is holding an open house to provide information on its proposal to twin the Trans Mountain pipeline that runs through Abbotsford.

The Abbotsford open house will be held at Ledgeview Golf and Country Club, at 35997 McKee Road on July 20. Residents can drop in anytime between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to learn more about the project.

The existing 1,150-kilometre Trans Mountain Pipeline runs between Strathcona County, Alta. and Burnaby, B.C. Kinder Morgan is proposing about 980 kilometres of new pipeline in the twinning project. If the proposed expansion is approved, construction could begin as early as 2016.

The proposed twinning route would run along the existing Trans Mountain corridor, with a potential deviation near the Matsqui First Nation. Kinder Morgan states that running the new pipeline along the current corridor where possible reduces the area disturbed by the expansion.
