As autumn dawns on Agassiz-Harrison, the crew at the Kilby Historic Site is preparing for the seasonal change.
Every Sunday for the rest of September, Kilby officials are pre-booking their full-course roast beef dinners complete with Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes, gravy and seasoned vegetables for take-out. October’s Sunday dinner menu will feature traditional roast turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade cranberry sauce, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie. For more information on the dinners, call 604-491-9053.
The Kilby Café offers a full take-out menu, which includes a number of local favourites such as fresh soup and sandwiches, homemade pastries, Cabin Fever Junction pies and Birchwood Gourmet Ice Cream.
Kilby Historic Site is now open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until November 1. Throughout the summer, admission to the Kilby garden and grounds was by donation. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, tours through the general store museum, Manchester House Hotel and post office is by reservation through Eventbrite. Tickets can also be purchased in the café on arrival.
Tickets are $6.50 per person; children ages 12 and under are admitted for free.
The Kilby Park Campground and boat launch are currently open for day use. However, due to the pandemic, staff are limiting the number of people allowed on the beach. There are 32 sites available that can be reserved by phone Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. by calling 604-796-9576 or reserving online at campgroundbooking.com.
