Jubilee Lawn Bowling Club opened its new season last Wednesday (May 3), with deputy mayor Brenda Falk throwing the first ball.

After 82 years, the club is holding its final season at its current location at 2552 McCallum Rd.

The club says it is enthusiastic about the plans the city has developed to revitalize Jubilee Park and the downtown business area.

They said they are looking forward to the re-location of the club facilities and the potential of year-long bowling on artificial turf.

The new facility will open the door for expanded membership and bring Abbotsford to the “excellent level” of other cities, they say.

Meanwhile, bowling takes place every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:45 p.m. No experience is necessary, and lessons are free.
