Staff from the Home Depot in Abbotsford presented a $25,000 cheque to Cyrus Centre on Wednesday morning.

The funds were approved through the Home Depot Canada Foundation.

The foundation provides community grants to charities for small-scale affordable-housing initiatives and neighbourhood improvement projects, and affordable housing grants to charities making repairs, refurbishments and/or modifications to a dwelling that benefits youth in need.

Cyrus Centre will use the funds to purchase a washer, dryer and dishwasher for each of its two projects in Abbotsford.

The drop-in centre on Ware Street provides services for at-risk youth, including a four-bed emergency shelter, hot meals, life skills, laundry, showering and employment coaching.

The agency recently opened Cyrus House, a home in Abbotsford that provides a stable, nurturing family environment for four kids at a time under the age of 19.
