The Abbotsford Hospice Society (AHS) was pleased to offer the Healing Power of Horses program event (equine facilitated therapy) for grieving youth (13 to 18 years) recently.

The program event took place July 5 at Shamrock Counselling.

The theme for this year’s event was ‘Carnivalesque’ (a space where the routine of everyday life is suspended and voices are energized) and the program was led by Dr. Lakhbir Jassal (AHS) and Cristina Rennie (Shamrock Counselling); and supported by a number of amazing volunteers.

Some of the activities included: healing circle(s); horse grooming and leading; scavenger hunt; memory ride; and painting horses to name but a few of the activities.

The AHS would like to thank Fraserway RV and Abbotsford Community Foundation for financially supporting the event. Also, a special thanks to Starbucks (McCallum Street), Mary Brown’s Chicken and Streats Abbotsford for providing everyone with a generous lunch donated for the program event.
