A formal gala in memory of Abbotsford Police Const. John Davidson takes place in Abbotsford on Sept. 14.

A gala in memory of Abbotsford Police Const. John Davidson takes place Friday, Sept. 14 as part of the Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer Tour de Valley.

The John Davidson Regimental Gala will be held at the Quality Hotel and Convention Centre (36035 North Parallel Rd.) from 4:30 to 11:30 p.m.

The formal event features a buffet dinner, dancing and a silent auction.

Police Chief Bob Rich will give the keynote address, and riders with the Tour de Valley will be in attendance.

Davidson was killed in the line of duty on Nov. 6, 2017 at the age of 53. He was a 24-year veteran of the force.
