FVRL seeks artist in residence

The chosen candidate would interact with the public informally and through presentations to groups

An Aboriginal artist in residence is being sought for Fraser Valley Regional Library as a way to share cultural knowledge throughout the region.

“The artist will provide a valuable link between FVRL and local Aboriginal communities, allowing the library to honour Aboriginal cultures and build trust,” said Kim Davison, library programs coordinator.

The artist will work with FVRL throughout June in 2014 to reflect and celebrate the diversity of communities. The artist will tour 12 FVRL locations as they work on an art project. They will interact with the public informally and through organized presentations to groups.

Applications are welcomed from experienced Aboriginal artists of all visual disciplines, and who work in any materials or combination of materials. The successful applicant will be paid an honorarium for their work. Preference will be given to artists living in one of FVRL 15 member municipalities.
