After losing his best friend to cancer, Abbotsford resident Gordon Jang will participate in an urban obstacle course fundraiser to help raise money for cancer research.

Jang’s friend Cam had previously fought and won his battle against non-Hodgkins lymphoma 34 years ago. After surviving cancer, he followed his dreams and made a career change, becoming an accomplished photographer and traveling the world.

In 2006, Cam’s liver stopped functioning because of damage from past radiation.

Earlier this year, cancer struck again. This time it had metastasized to his lungs and despite aggressive treatment, he passed away.

Jang explained that throughout all of life’s challenges, Cam never complained and truly appreciated all that life had to offer. It is with his spirit in mind that Jang will undertake the fundraising and training for Concrete Hero, held in Vancouver on Aug. 17.

Money raised by the event benefits the BC Cancer Foundation, which funds breakthrough research and discovery at the BC Cancer Agency, where Cam was a patient.

Concrete Hero is an urban obstacle course which will see participants scale tire mountains, dumpster dive, crawl on beaches and more.
