A fundraiser takes place Saturday, Dec. 8 in support of an Abbotsford woman taking part in a missions program called The World Race.

Stacy Richard will visit 11 countries in 11 months, starting in January, as part of the program run by Adventures in Missions, based out of Georgia.

The countries include Uganda, Rwanda, Costa Rica, Malaysia and India.

Teams of six to eight people are sent to towns to do whatever work is needed at the time they are there.

This includes things such as construction,  working with AIDS orphans, and building relationships with sex trade workers in an attempt to get them out of that profession.

Richard requires about $20,000 to cover the costs of flights, food, housing, ministry supplies, travel and medical insurance. She has covered many of these costs on her own, but the fundraiser will help with a portion.

A burger and brew night on Dec. 8 takes place at Jubilee Hall (7989 Bradner Rd.) and includes music by singers Joshua Clark and Ryan McAllister. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15 and must be purchased in advance at brownpapertickets.com/event/295411 or by calling Stacy at 778-908-8691 or Lynda at 778-908-8690.
