Free portrait photos provided to underprivileged families

Help-Portrait Abbotsford is offering the service on Saturday at Bakerview Church.

A charity that provides free portrait photographs to under-privileged families is hosting its annual event on Saturday, Dec. 7 as part of a world-wide movement.

Help-Portrait Abbotsford is a community of photographers, makeup artists, hair stylists and other volunteers giving back to the community.

Once a year, it sets up to take pictures of under-privileged families who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to have professional photos taken.

This year, the photos are being taken at Bakerview Church, 2285 Clearbrook Rd.

The Abbotsford group will also have two mobile units that will go to seniors’ homes and crisis centres.

Registration for a photo session can be done online at helpportraitabbotsford.blogspot.ca until Friday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m., although earlier registration is appreciated.

Volunteers to assist with the photo sessions are also being accepted until then.

Help Portrait is taking place at communities across the world on Dec. 7.
