Fraser Valley Auto Mall Food Drive in Abbotsford donates $23K to food bank

Auto mall merchants, Save-On-Foods and firefighters join forces for annual event

A combined total of $23,000 was donated Sunday (Dec. 18) to the Archway Food Bank in Abbotsford as part of the annual Fraser Valley Auto Mall Food Drive.

Of that money, $12,000 came from merchants of the auto mall and Save-On-Foods. The other $11,000 came from Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service.

This was the first time the event had been held since the pandemic began.

Food had been collected over the prior weeks at the auto mall, local fire halls and Save-On-Foods locations.

A convoy left the auto mall on Sunday and drove across town to deliver the cash and food donations to the food bank on Essendene Avenue.

The Archway Food Bank serves as the Christmas Bureau at this time of year. Visit abbotsfordfoodbank.com for more information or to make a donation.
