A forum about forensic nursing takes place Tuesday, May 13 in Abbotsford.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon in the Student Union Building at University of the Fraser Valley and can also be viewed on Zoom.
The session takes place during Victims and Survivors of Crime Week to help people learn about the role that forensic nurse examiners play in B.C.
Forensic nurse examiners provide medical-forensic exams to people who have experienced violence.
This includes all genders, ages and a wide variety of forms of violence, including sexual violence and intimate-partner violence.
The forum at UFV features presenters speaking about the role of forensic nurse examiners, what to expect during a forensic nurse exam, and where someone can get an exam throughout B.C.
Also on hand will be a presenter from Embrace Clinic – an out-patient clinic for people who have experienced inter-personal violence – and a panel of service providers speaking about the role of forensic nurse examiners in the community.
The session is free, but registration is required in advance at blogs.ufv.ca/swhs/2025/04/23
